When even
standalone movies like Thor: Ragnarok have temporary team - ups, it was about time Deadpool will also have one.
Batgirl will follow Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon, who is played by J.K. Simmons in the current iteration of the DCEU, though it remains unknown whether Batgirl will be a part of that cinematic universe, or whether it'll be
a standalone movie like Todd Phillips» Joker film that is poised to star Joaquin Phoenix.

The
movie had more problems than just its casting —
like choosing to introduce the mutant in someone else's
standalone movie and nearly ruining «Deadpool» forever — but that doesn't excuse the bad interpretation of a beloved hero who was much more clever in the comics.
While the premise of these
movies have always been that they are mostly
standalone, I
like the feeling here that it's all settled into a rhythm.
Indeed, the non-Marvel films in these franchises that have done best more recently are the ones that stood out from the crowd,
like Wonder Woman (which rejected the dark tone of other DC
movies), Logan (which felt
like a grown - up
standalone film), and Deadpool (which loudly razzed the idea of being linked to X-Men
movies).
While this film may not be all that engaging as a
standalone story, it does feel
like a suitable entry point into the shared monster
movie universe that Universal Studios has planned.
Although I
like Thor's contribution to the group dynamics of the Avengers
movies, his
standalone films have never really clicked with me before — but, considering this casting and the fact that Into the Shadows «Taika Waititi will be helming Ragnarok, I think the third time might be the charm.
Overall, the whole thing just felt
like an elaborate setup for a sequel instead of a
standalone movie.

like What We Do in the Shadows, or a true sleeper
like Straight Outta Compton (or Spy, for that matter), or a blockbuster hitting the sweet spot for audiences and critics alike
like Mad Max has done, or a traditional
standalone nonfranchise blockbuster
like The Martian, or an animated film with the acclaim of Inside Out, or a little horror
movie that could
like It Follows, or an unexpected independent drama that ran forever
like Room....2015 was a year
like 1999 or 1994.
The
movie also can feel
like a conscious attempt to create a formal prequel for Rings rather than to leave Hobbit as the
standalone tale it is.
If you were to remove personal affection for the superstar, you would realize that, if you had never heard of Arnold Schwarzenegger and were viewing this as a
standalone film, this is one hell of an unfunny
movie, with a tasteless premise, predictable turns of events, and wholly contrived plotting meant strictly to show a large, muscular man doing very un-macho things,
like crying, dressing up
like a woman, and driving himself more by emotion than logic.
Like movies and music, there's no
standalone store besides Google Play to get access to extra apps and games.
Now the two worlds and characters don't have to directly crossover in their
standalone games, but it would be awesome if Ubisoft developed a shared universe
like Marvel's
movies.
For those who have seen Broly's
standalone movie, Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan, he was one of the characters who posed several challenges to characters
like Goku and Vegeta.
The rental service has distribution deals in place with major studios
like Warner Bros., which allow Redbox to purchase physical DVDs and Blu - rays of popular
movies that it then offers for rental at its
standalone kiosks.
