Dungeon exploration can tend to be fairly repetitive, as can combat encounters if you strive to defeat every single enemy on the field and go through the same motions over and over (most
standard attack animations play out the same with minimal flair to keep things exciting).

standard and not all that exciting turn - based affair where you pick an
attack from your list, watch a short
animation, and then wait your turn for your next
attack.
Chain Combos allowed the player to cancel the
animation of a
standard attack with another
standard attack effectively chaining moves together.
