As of April 2018, 42 states have adopted the Common Core curriculum for all students attending public schools, which involves teaching
standards for each grade level in English, mathematics, reading, social studies, history, and science.
Many states developed
standards for each grade level so that, theoretically, students would start each school year in the same place as their peers and be ready to learn the next set of information.
Go to the Common Core Standards and choose
a standard for your grade level.
The subjects covered are Math and English Language Arts / Literacy and the tests use a variety of question types to assess students» proficiency in reaching
each standard for their grade level.
The instructional material for a given grade level should align to
the standards for that grade level.
And while some states are already using the standards, many states are fully implementing
the standards for all grade levels just this year.
