Like the length here's nothing inherently wrong with a cliffhanger to help set up for a sequel (Frozenbyte have confirmed that there are no plans for any DLC currently, so it looks like they intended to start work on Trine 4 straightaway) but for a cliffhanger to work you need to feel as though the rest of the game told a worthwhile story in its own right that left you feeling satisfied and wanting more, something which Trine 3 doesn't do.
