in the one - room schoolhouses of yesteryear, and it's oblivious to the many ways that children differ from each other, the ways their modes and rates of learning differ, how widely their
starting achievement levels differ, and how their interests, brains, and outside circumstances often cause them to learn
different subjects
at unequal speeds — and to move faster and slower, deeper or shallower,
at different points in their
lives, even
at different points within a «school year.»
Many of you know my story already, so today I thought I'd give you six other stories, from six
different people, who all
started travelling solo
at some
point in their
lives, for various reasons.
But
at different points in our
lives we can be
at greater risk — when we're going through big changes such as becoming an adult, retiring,
starting a family, or losing someone we love, for example.
Consider this example: Your spouse doesn't seem to be paying much attention to you, so you
start to hang out with a friend
at work more and more often. Your spouse, feeling ignored
at the same time, looks to others for companionship and friendship instead of you. Trouble
started innocently enough — there's nothing wrong with hanging out with friends. But
at some
point these people have developed 2 completely
different lives and after a few years probably don't have much
in common anymore.
This home is for young men
at a variety of
different starting points in life who need a safe and sober place to begin again, build up rental history and be a part of a healthy community of peers.
