A former chairperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mrs. Farida Waziri, on Saturday, challenged her predecessor and 2015 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa
State, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to «explain to Nigerians what happened to billions of funds and
assets recovered from
suspects under him, with no records or documentation.»
Asset forfeiture is a controversial policy that allows local and
state police departments to seize money and property from those
suspected of committing a crime, even in cases where the alleged criminals are not convicted of wrongdoing.
