The planned research program would provide «insight into the science needed to understand potential pathways for climate intervention or geoengineering and the possible consequences of any such measures, both intended and unintended,» the report states.

Thirty - three states have strategic plans for dealing with climate change, but only five of those currently include a public - health response, according to the Trust for America's Health, a nonprofit advocacy group in Washington, D.C. «We only respond after a Katrina - like crisis,» says Jeffrey Levi, the trust's executive director.
