I was too busy to really celebrate last weekend, which meant I missed out on nian gao, a sweet,
sticky rice flour dessert that many eat for good luck in the coming year.

The sweet potato gnocchi recipe itself is pretty straightforward — cook sweet potatoes,
rice them, add
flour, stir in an egg and work the dough until it's no longer
sticky.

Since buckwheat goes so well in chocolate chip cookies, I decided to use it in conjunction with sweet
rice flour, which is naturally
sticky and adds chew to baked goods.
Oh shoot, looking over the recipe to see if I altered it at all and noticed I forgot to put in the
rice flour, so the mix was probably
stickier than it should have been.
If using
rice flour, the dough should be damp and slightly
sticky.
Mochi is basically like a
sticky rice cake common in Asian desserts + made of glutinous

You could definitely give it a try and add a bit more sweet
rice flour if it doesn't seem to be dry enough (though again, this is a SUPER
sticky dough!).
