A bit of that firmness is probably due to the optional 20 - inch wheels (though I can't imagine that the stock 19 - inchers are significantly smoother), but most of the thanks and blame should fall on
the stiffly damped suspension system.

The
suspension isn't too
stiffly sprung to
damp out small to medium bumps, nor is it overly soft.
It's not too
stiffly sprung, so the
suspension still
damps out ruts just fine and the interior is well insulated from road and wind noise.
The
suspension is
stiffly sprung and 10 mm lower than the standard car, so it can feel quite firm over rougher ground, but excellent
damping helps to iron out any lumpy road surfaces.
