We bought our first home a year ago and we've been doing a lot of fixing up but

To this day I
still have a love for funfetti cake from a box that is unexplainable to me, and I find it to be so funny because I was just talking to a friend about how we both know our way around a
kitchen and can make any cake from scratch with our eyes closed, yet cake from a box
still tastes the best.
When I was 32 weeks pregnant in the summer of 2009 (in fact, this was overflowing on my

I love it when we get together, quite often unplanned, where food is thrown together haphazardly,
still being delicious,
still tasting great and fresh, and
still having a great family time together around our round
kitchen table.
If at the last minute we decide to invite some friends to come over and play ping pong on the weekend, I can
have this dip ready to go, displayed nicely on the

still have the energy for some fearsome ping pong doubles.

still struggling through to get some colour!)
It
has been so hard being away from my
kitchen this long, and I
still have a few weeks to go.
One of my crock pots gets going a little too hot, so I slip the very sliver of the end of a toothpick under the lid (between the lid and the rim of the crock) and this lets just enough steam out to prevent
having bean juice splattered all over my
kitchen counters while
still keeping the beans at a boil.
In all its simplicity I was absolutely floored by the combination of flavors and instantly vowed to never eat another meatball sub again... I may
have broken that vow a few times, but this is
STILL a fond memory for me as THE FIRST of many
