With millions of Americans
still out of employment, getting hired is not easy.

The U.K. had been expected to follow close behind the Federal Reserve in raising interest rates for the first time in nearly a decade, but with lower commodity prices and weak wage growth
still keeping a lid on inflation, economists now think that the U.K. may not raise rates till 2017 — even though new data
out Wednesday showed the
employment rate hit a 45 - year high
of 74 % in the three months to November.
You might recall Fed Vice-Chair Janet Yellen discussing at length the numerous pitfalls
of the headline unemployment rate, which doesn't count the discouraged workers who've dropped
out of the labour force, those who've stopped looking for work but say they would
still like to have a job, and those who would like to work full - time but could only find part - time
employment.
The final
employment report
of 2017,
out Friday, could reveal a labor market that
still has some pep in its step despite a dwindling pool
of available workers.
They
still have to comply with federal and state laws, which means gays are
out, but everyone else has to be considered for
employment by the company (the only exceptions to the law are where your religion or other protected status are essential for the job... for example, a Muslim couldn't sue an Episcopalian church who wouldn't hire them in an administrative role because their faith clashes with that
of the church — things like that don't apply to a fast food chain).
The verdict might
still be
out, but according to a recent study
out of Makerere Medical School in Uganda, it is estimated that both age and
employment status contribute to breastfeeding.
And because we
still do have a couple
of kiddos at home (although they are both teenagers now, my preferred place
of employment is
still at home), it has been important for me to find opportunities to help
out with our family finances — kids are expensive, even when you are rather «old fashioned» parents who aren't inclined to provide the latest shiny object for kids who think they simply can't live without «it.»
Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say with this is that there is a small group
of authors and editors
out there who are pounding their chests in social outrage over what happened years ago (see some
of the posts about the 1930 - something letter from Walt Disney denying
employment to a woman because there are no female animators in the studio at that time) as well as what two gentlemen had to say about events that happened thirty or more years ago all in an attempt to prove they are
still relevant.

of substance abuse / dependence «so as to ascertain whether they discussed or posted photographs
of any recent substance abuse;» • Applicants with «significant candor concerns» including not telling the truth on
employment applications or resumes; • Applicants with a history
of unlicensed practice
of law (UPL) allegations; • Applicants who have worked as a certified legal intern, reported self -
employment in a legal field, or reported
employment as an attorney pending admission «to ensure that these applicants are not holding themselves
out as attorneys;» • Applicants who have positively responded to Item 27
of the bar application disclosing «involvement in an organization advocating the overthrow
of a government in the United States to find
out if they are
still involved in any related activities.»
So, if a delivery driver is
out on the road and they drive a block
out of the way to get a cup
of coffee, that's most — much more likely to be treated at
still within the scope and course
of their
employment even though they went a little bit
out of the way, as opposed to if they drive and make a delivery and then drive five miles
out of the way to go see a buddy in prison and then they come back to the highway.
Whilst compliance with the requirements
of the charity regulators and avoidance
of reputational damage are crucial issues, third sector organisations should also always bear in mind that general
employment law
still applies to their employees and any disciplinary process should always be carried
out carefully avoiding «knee jerk» reactions which could give rise to legal liabilities such as unfair dismissal.

The indicator for «Overall Wage Pressure» (7.5) sends
out a loud message: the Chinese
employment market is
still facing a shortage
of skilled candidates with employers prepared to use salary to compete for the top talent.
As we all know from press reports, the
employment market is
still very difficult for young people, far too many remain
out of work.
While all references should be decent, this is even more vital when considering a career gap or break as you have been
out of employment and need to show that you are
still competent.
A hiring manager can interpret
employment gaps in a number
of ways — it can indicate you being
out of touch with your industry and that you haven't used your vocational skills in a long time, worse
still in could reflect a deeper lying problem in your professional conduct or overall work ethic.
If you
still think that job search is a game
of numbers (the more resumes you send
out, the more chances you have to obtain
employment), you can not be further from the truth.
The
employment market may have improved considerably over recent years, but there's
still plenty
of competition
out there for jobs.
However, if you find yourself
out of touch and unable to locate a reference you can
still verify your
employment.
Information you must provide: o Official company name, city and state o Title
of your position (if you held multiple titles over time, you can list these
out) o Start date and completion date
of your
employment there (If you
still work there currently, you can say something like, «December 2003 to present») o Job description — use bullet points to briefly describe your responsibilities for each position listed
