By some accounts, Google's 2010 purchase of the onetime Port Authority building at 111 Eighth Avenue, which occupies an entire city block, drove up commercial rents in the area, but this is a 10 - to -15-minute walk to the heart of the art district, an eternity when it comes to the storefronts that appeal to galleries.

Therefore, despite the narrow shape of the gallery and the limited floor area available, the peculiar structure of the Storefront allows artists to create site - specific installations which creatively play and interact with the architectural and urban framework they are located into.

One part show and one part elaborate public experiment, the show will spill out of these galleries into the surrounding neighborhood with projects that include public murals, art on area billboards, installations in vacant storefronts, performances in the streets, and events at nearby community gardens.

Meg has exhibited in New York City and the tri-state area, including shows at ODETTA, Morgan Lehman Gallery, Geoffrey Young Gallery, and Storefront Ten Eyck.

The organization behind the massive art festival, Arts in Bushwick (AiB), is currently holding a benefit exhibition appropriately titled Making History at Storefront Ten Eyck, one of the dozens of galleries that have cropped up in the area over the last few years.
