fun story within a story, but it also gives us a solid, cohesive plot, which many films in this genre are sorely lacking.

The movie is a bit like a Russian nesting doll in that it's designed as
a story within a story within a story, opening on a young girl reading a book about the titular hotel that was written by an unnamed author, portrayed at various ages by Tom Wilkinson in a brief 1985 flashback and Jude Law in 1968.
Ultimately, the film gets too clever and confusing for its own good, while the slow pacing zaps momentum from the story (and
the story within the story).

The main story is in fact
a story within a story; a grandfather, played by Peter «Columbo» Falk, visits his sick grandson Fred Savage and reads him a tale about a young princess, Buttercup (Robin Wright) and her servant Wesley, played to perfection by Cary Elwes.

Stories within stories can be either the coolest cinema experience or the most convoluted, but they're always daring to say the least.
On one hand we have
stories within stories, multi-tiered gameplay that puts a lot of its direction to the player, interesting design grouped with its innovative foundation and a great deal of character growth.
The story within a story is the strongest part about «Nocturnal Animals,» mainly due to its wonderful performances.
