As a director, I find much more interest in drama / suspense
storylines than comedy.

A dweeby and unenchanting concoction as romantic
comedies go, Mark Decena's debut feature also juggles enough
storylines to fill five or six movies in barely 80 minutes of screen time, ending up with a whole distinctly less
than the sum of its parts.
It sounded like a good idea for a unapologetic misogynistic - but charming -
comedy, but the fractured
storyline has many more lows
than ups, the so called humour is as scarce as crass.
But, it's a
comedy, after all, and one not terribly concerned with a realistic
storyline, so you go with the flow for the
comedy's sake, and more often
than not, Cera and the rest of the cast deliver up some amusing moments.
There are enough laughs to justify it being labeled as a
comedy but a stronger
storyline than one normally associates with this kind of film.
The main
storyline involving Jennifer Jason Leigh (Short Cuts, The Anniversary Party) and her search for love doesn't involve him much, and is a bit more serious, but gives the film the depth it needs to show it is more
than a typical teen
comedy.
