You can also use a slow cooker, but I'm not usually that well prepared and therefore use
a stove top method.
I haven't ever tried making crackers without using an oven so I'm not sure if that's possible; I think it's unlikely that you would find success with
the stove top method.

the stove top method... like the idea of adding this to the oven when something else is in there roasting too.
Although these split peas can generally be cooked within 1 - 2 hours (when using
the stove top method), a longer simmer will ensure the complete breakdown of the split peas.
