«Last month's dip in closings was somewhat expected given that there was such a
strong sales increase in March at 4.2 percent, and new and existing inventory is not keeping up with the fast
pace of homes coming off the market,» says Lawrence Yun, NAR's chief economist.
«As the September housing scorecard indicates, our housing market is showing important signs
of recovery — with homeowner equity at a four - year high and summer
sales of existing homes at the
strongest pace in two years,» says HUD Acting Assistant Secretary Erika Poethig.
