There will be improved squad functionality in the retail
game (including but not limited to): the ability to create squads prior to launching into a
game,
sticking with your squad when joining a
game and continuing together through future
games (If team balance on the
server allows it), inviting friends to a squad and changing squads once in
game.

Unfortunately, this configuration hadn't been widely tested under load, and caused all ending matches to never reset properly, leading to a starvation of the
game servers, and thousands of players
stuck in matchmaking queue for about 30 minutes (starting at A on the chart).
This prevented players from actually connecting to the assigned
game server, and loading into the match, staying permanently
stuck on the loading screen.
We identified that some
servers in the OCE (Sydney) and SEA (Singapore) regions, were
stuck awaiting for map travel, an operation that happens at the end of a match to reset the
game state.
The
game server was then kicking players because they had already died in that match, and the
game became
stuck on the loading screen instead of returning to the main menu.

My primary frustration with my
game experience has been with connecting to Maddens
servers — I've been
stuck on loading screens and booted from the auction house (more on that feature later) way too many times to chalk this up to unexpected spikes in user traffic or a poor WiFi signal.
In the midday
game this past Thursday, which started around 30 minutes late because HQ can barely maintain its
server uptime under crushing demand, Carpenter convinced more than 10,000 people to
stick around until the end of the
game.
