Career and technical
education teachers are employed at middle and high schools and career colleges and help
students develop the skills and techniques that may enable them to enter particular career - oriented occupations, such as those in automotive repair, carpentry,
culinary arts, information technology or healthcare.
The Diversity of Opportunity
Education Partnership, or DO Partnership, will enable up to 30
students from 13 suburban districts to take part in a number programs at the two city schools, including advanced manufacturing and engineering, digital media, construction, information technology,
culinary arts, medical careers and more.
Students can work towards a 2 or 4 year university degree or chose a career and technical
education program in such areas as auto collision technology, CAD, computer information systems,
culinary arts, criminal justice, medical careers, fire science technology, welding, multimedia graphic design, radio / television, early childhood
education, and others.
The district also added more than 350
students to a
culinary arts program as it expands career and technical
education options.
International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association sponsors an annual Hospitality
Education Scholarship Award that is given to a deserving
