I designed this intervention to support a team of teachers to change their practice to include more feedback of higher quality to
students as a lever to increase achievement and student ownership.

As I discussed in my Getting Smart article, Back - to - School Prep for School Leaders, we know from supporting schools and districts across the nation for the last 17 years that some of the greatest
levers to improving
student achievement lie in the school leader and an effective Instructional Leadership Team (ILT).

As the ELT Initiative Update illustrates, ELT Schools are proving that, when combined with quality teaching and a commitment to
student achievement, expanded learning time can be a powerful
lever for change.
Misalignment or lack of alignment between a strategic plan and additional initiatives (such
as the three
levers) not in the plan can lead to confusion among staff, extra burdens on teachers
as priorities may conflict, questions from school boards about approving funding for initiatives that are not clearly aligned to strategic goals and initiatives, and ultimately lack of progress towards

In 1988 very few education experts were considering the potential of
