After the third day, starved and bleeding from perilous survival further beset by a need to look after six high school
students near the bridge in Chokwe, physical education teacher Francesco Salomao, only 29 years old himself, proposed to swim away from the group in search for something to eat.
The 174 foot
bridge, scheduled to open to the public in early 2019, crossed Southwest 8th Street
near 109th Avenue and was built with the purpose of allowing
students living across the busy roadway to cross safely.
