paints in the images, allowing her to condense certain structural marks in unusual and counterintuitive ways so that instead of feeling modeled out of brushwork, they seem to be whirled onto the surface.
Ms Büttner, a Stuttgart - born artist who
studied at the Royal College of Art in London, works in prints, sculpture,
painting and film, but attracted attention for her use of unfashionable media such as woodblock prints and

This show, Ms. Tyson's 10th solo outing with the gallery since 1995, presents an overview of her dynamic works on paper from 2002 to 2016 — ranging from penciled sketchbook
studies and life - size ink drawings to colorful portraits that are
painted on
glass and then pressed on to paper to achieve a more gestural, emotional representation of her troubled figures.

studies for abstract geometric compositions from the late 1930s, when Albers — a onetime instructor at the Bauhaus — returned to
painting after having devoted his recent years to working with
glass.
