Their qualitative
study of refugee parents in two schools in a declining northeastern city reveals that even in situations of material deprivation, public schools in the
global North are more than capable of educating all of their students if they are able to accommodate new
cultures of «space - making» and «identity - staking» for immigrant parents in their children's schools.
