Egyptologists have turned to modern imaging methods to
study ancient animal mummies.

The
ancients based their opinions on data gathered from
studies of the pregnant mother or through the dissection and vivisection of pregnant
animals.

studying physical changes in the bodies of various
animal hybrids.
«This particular sponge species, which is among the most
ancient animals inhabiting the earth today, is home to a very diverse, very crowded number of microorganisms,» said Prof. Micha Ilan of the Department of Zoology at TAU's Faculty of Life Sciences, who led the

study reveals that this process may have evolved long ago, as it shows that embryos from an
ancient spider develop just like those of vertebrate

Such
studies are revealing the organisms that interacted with
ancient books, from the
animals whose skins are preserved as parchment to the bookworms and people who once lingered over the pages.
Sharpe said that further
studies are needed to investigate what roles did
animals, like dogs, play in the evolution of the Mayan civilization or the
ancient Mesoamerica in general.
Scientists

study and artistic inspiration.
