Study: People tweet more about church than beer In an effort to look at cultural differences across the United States, a
data analysis company selected two words that it felt exemplified an American cultural divide and analyzed their usage on Twitter.
In terms of own price elasticity values, a recent meta -
analysis estimated an average own price effect for carbonated sugar sweetened drinks (a near equivalent of the category non-concentrated sugar sweetened drinks, which predominantly includes carbonated drinks) of − 0.93, larger than our value of − 0.81.51 Our estimated value is also at the lower end of the range of own price elasticities frequently cited for sugar sweetened drinks of − 0.8 to − 1.0, based on one large review.52 Our own price estimate is comparable to experimental
data (a 25 % reduction for a 35 % price rise) in a canteen
study.53 However, all these estimates may be influenced by US
studies in which higher estimates may reflect higher levels of consumption.

Because ACOG has created its position on home births based on much of the
data from Wax's meta
analysis, the researchers warn that physicians and women who are considering home births and using this
study as a reference for their decisions are not getting reliable information and may not be making a well informed decision.
Authors from
studies included in the
analysis take a swing at Wax and his colleagues stating that not only is their methodology flawed, but their
analysis and use of
data is also flawed and misleading.
The principle objection is the method of
study (a meta -
analysis) and the

analysis used to come to the conclusions.
The dates of the twelve
studies included within the Wax (2010)
analysis is also an area of concern, with eight dating prior to the birth certificate
data set change that identified planned from unplanned home births.
Performing a «meta -
analysis» of
data from 14
studies published between 1999 and 2012, researchers at Cinncinati Children's Hospital found a 72 % risk reduction in female athletes under 18 years old versus a risk reduction of only 16 % for those over age 18.
«Our
data indicate that head trauma events can be effectively identified by K - D test time scores, and that
analyses of this new measure in future
studies can establish its role as a rapid sideline screening test for concussion,» she writes.
