Building out the full renewable energy
system in New York in the next 15 years will create 4.5 million jobs while lowering electric rates to half of what fossil and
nuclear fuels will cost in the next decade, according to a recent
study by Cornell and Stanford researchers.
«Hydropower plants and thermoelectric power plants — which are
nuclear, fossil -, and biomass - fueled plants converting heat to electricity — both rely on freshwater from rivers and streams,» explains Michelle Van Vliet, a researcher at the International Institute for Applied
Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria and Wageningen University in the Netherlands, who led the
study.
Ben received his Ph.D. in 2010 from the University of California, Berkeley where he worked under Stephen R. Leone
studying ultrafast electronic relaxation dynamics in atomic
systems as well as competitive electronic -
nuclear dynamics in superexcited states of small molecules using femtosecond soft X - ray / VUV light sources.
I've know and worked with him for 35 years — the sad thing is we went through all of the same denials as part of the first big national «

Back in April, DOE Secretary Perry issued a memo calling for a reliability
study of U.S. power
systems, expressing concerns that competitive markets, renewables, and regulations were forcing retirement of baseload (i.e. coal and
nuclear) power plants critical to reliability.
As you may recall, in April 2017, DOE Secretary Perry launched a
study of U.S. power
system reliability expressing concerns over baseload coal and
nuclear retirements.
LONDON, 20 January — A combination of wind and solar power and sophisticated energy storage
systems could keep a power grid fully supplied between 90 and 99.9 % of the time, at costs comparable with today's fossil fuel and
nuclear mix, according to a new
study from Delaware in the United States.
In a recent
study, Synapse found that energy efficiency, wind, and solar resources, along with transmission
system improvements, can replace power generated by Indian Point Energy Center after the
nuclear power plant retires in 2021.
