body -
images of 40 professional women and homebirthers in relation to their beliefs and choices about pregnancy and birth, and published that
study in Social Science and Medicine and elsewhere.

Research backs up the idea that a woman's own
body image can have a powerful impact
on her kids: A 2014 Australian
study revealed that sons and daughters of moms with a current or past eating disorder were more likely to engage in emotional eating and have symptoms of eating disorders than other kids.
«Because ultra-thin ideals encourage the development of
body image problems in young people, we need to change the environment to reduce emphasis
on the value of extreme thinness,» said
study leader Eric Robinson.

The artist developed a style in her large - scale works that challenges a traditional linear art history; these works were influenced by a wide range of
images from different cultures, including techniques from Persian miniature painting,
studies on the female
body and subjectivities, and science fiction.

To understand the development and consequences of having a serious depressive, eating, or
body -
image problem in adolescence, our group conducted
studies on girls» development under the aegis of the Adolescent
Study Program1.
Studies such as one published in the Journal of Family Psychology have found that negative
body image can have a negative impact
on overall marital satisfaction for both partners.
In this cross-sectional
study we analyzed the links between marital quality and intimacy,
body image, and psychological quality of life (PQoL) of breast cancer patients, as well as the moderating role of cancer phase (treatment, survivorship)
on the aforementioned links.
A
study on supportive partners and the relationship to a woman's negative
body image found that receiving support from a romantic partner was directly related to lower reported levels of negative
body image issues and anxiety associated with her physical appearance.
Therefore, it is plausible that age and development of the child may also moderate the effect of parental encouragement for PA
on body image through child PA; this requires further
study.
Based
on the previous
studies in this field - for most part of samples of college women - we posited that romantic attachment has important links with positive
body image and female sexual functioning.
Previous
studies have found that positive
body image was associated with several features of better overall adjustment and mental health, such as higher levels of self - esteem, more criticism
on unrealistic beauty ideals, and more negative attitudes toward cosmetic surgery (Avalos et al., 2005; Grogan, 2010; Holmqvist & Frisén, 2012; Swami, 2009; Wood - Barcalow Tylka, & Augustus - Horvath, 2010).
This
study focused
on links between romantic attachment, positive
body image, and sexual functioning.
To our knowledge, only two
studies focused specifically
on aspects of positive
body image and relationships with female sexuality.
Only a small number of
studies focused
on body image and attachment in romantic relationships specifically.
Studies that focused
on the link between adult attachment and
body image primarily examined relationships between aspects of
body image and general adult attachment (i.e., attachment experiences in close relationships in general, without specifying whether those close others were romantic partners, parents, friends, etc.)(e.g., Elgin & Pritchard, 2006; Iannantuono & Tylka, 2012).
