I sub bread flour, would it make a tougher loaf, etc?
I've been baking yeast breads on and off for several years, and have what may seem like a stupid question: what is the effect of
subbing bread flour for all purpose in a recipe?

As a substitute for
bread flour I add gluten
flour to regular
flour,
subbing in 1 teaspoon per cup of all purpose or whole wheat
flour.

I didn't have any flax for the first couple of batches, so
subbed extra almond
flour, then made it my
bread machine and it was a hit.
I made this tonight and used 1.5 cups almond
flour, 1/2 cup tapioca starch,
subbed chia meal for flax meal,
subbed avocado oil for coconut oil, and added 1.5 T caraway seeds to give it a bit of a «rye
bread taste».
I
subbed some whole wheat
flour of AP
flour, but otherwise followed the recipe to a T. Every little pita round turned out perfectly: each poofed up in the oven and then when deflated and cool, each was soft and yeasty, slightly chewy — essentially exactly what I wanted out of the
bread.
I plan to try with white whole wheat
flour, have had good luck
subbing that for white /
bread flour.
so today was take two of egg

flour and added in some chopped garlic and parmesan cheese... fabulous!!!

Having made this
bread several times, I don't think that quinoa
flour would work as an arrowroot
sub.
I feel like I read that pastry
flour works best with soda
breads, but I think
subbing all whole wheat might make it too heavy.
You could also try
subbing a Tablespoon of bean
flour - it would give a good sturdy body to the
bread in a similar way to coconut
flour.

bread today and had to
sub half coconut
flour, so I added a few tablespoons of avocado oil and it was exceptional!
I just made this... I doubled the recipe... I
subbed the buckwheat with coconut
flour... I was also listening to «Across the Universe» soundtrack very loud... I think I made a mistake and added to much coconut
flour so things were VERY dry when I first added water... I have a very thick
bread that does not seem to be done in the middle... BUT it is still terribly delicious!!!
i added a bit of oil olive to the dough and
subbed pecans as i didn't have walnuts and used 1/2
bread flour and doubled the recipe as i wanted a super mega size loaf, going to use it for turkey sandwiches along with a tomato soup, can't wait for dinner, I'm so excited to find pom recipes as well, the chocolate dipped shortbread looks like christmas on a plate!Re; your mouse inthe house, we lived thru an infestation, only problem the children thought they were pets at the time!
