subbed out some of coconut oil for butter — used 1 tbs of coconut oil & 2 tbs of butter.

It came
out great, exactly as written (the only
sub I made was that I only had 1 cup
of unsweetened
coconut, so I added a 1/2 cup
of sweetened
coconut and decreased the sugar by 1/4 cup).
I was
out of honey, so I
subbed with
coconut sugar.
I used four eggs,
subbed tapioca flour for the
coconut flour since I was
out of coconut, and
subbed Trader Joe's ground almond meal (I pretty much exclusively use the TJ's almond meal when almond flour is called for, and have never had problems).
I'm trying to get off wheat and sugar, so I've been loikong for a starter recipe using almond flour, this one turned
out pretty well, despite a lot
of substitutions I used half chickpea flour, I added cocoa instead
of chocolate chips,
subbed earth balance for the fat and sweetened with a little
coconut sugar and stevia.
And since some
of us are lactose intolerant I
subbed out heavy cream for a can
of coconut milk + a little almond milk to make the correct amount.
I also
subbed in cows milk for plant milk, and butter for
coconut oil since I was
out of the latter.
I
subbed out the hearts for 1 cup broccoli and 1 cup
of cauliflower and replaced the
coconut milk with HWC.
They didn't have this particular brand
of coconut sugar that I was looking for, so I
subbed it
out with pure maple syrup.
I
subbed 1/2 Smart Balance spread and 1/2 nutiva shortening (
out of coconut oil).
;P Normally I'm ALL about substitutions, and go
out of my way to offer
subs for anything and everything possible, but
coconut flour is simply in a category all its own; no getting around it.

It turned
out awesome and I
subbed the stevia baking blend with 1/4 c and about 1 T
of coconut sugar.
I used homemade apple sauce instead
of apple butter and
subbed coconut sugar instead
of stevia; it came
out perfect!
Anyway, wanted to tell you that I've started
subbing out the grapeseed oil for
coconut oil in these and have long been using homemade
coconut palm sugar syrup in place
of agave in ALL
of your recipes, including your peanut sauce and other similar ones.
Just thought I'd add (since I see someone else had the same problem) that I am also allergic to
coconut and I was successful just
subbing it
out for an equal amount
of applesauce.
Going to try it again but maybe
sub out the cocoa powder for some
coconut flour and see if it works as a sort
of pumpkin pie blondie bar.
I ran
out of maple syrup so I had to
sub about half the maple syrup
out for
coconut nectar, which made them just a bit darker than the picture, but very tasty nonetheless.
Had to
sub out shortening for the
coconut oil, as the only place I can find unrefined wants $ 12 for a jar
of it.

of coconut oil for the zylitol honey, taking
out the whey crisps but adding chopped macadamia nuts and unsweetened
coconut.
I baked these yesterday using Authentic Foods Classical Flour Blend (Brown rice flour, potato starch, tapioca flour)
subbing for the 1 1/4 cup
of brown rice flour, potato flour, and tapioca flour the recipe called for since I had it on hand and used an almond /
coconut milk blend instead
of regular milk and they came
out wonderfully.
1 - had no hazelnut butter or
coconut oil so i made a concoction
of peanut butter, nutella, and almond meal as a substitute 2 — ran
out of cocoa powder for the topping, and added a bit more nutella as a chocolate
sub 3 — after baking i was looking at my counter and realized that i had forgotten to include the avocado in the recipe -LRB-!)
Going to try it again but maybe
sub out the cocoa powder for some
coconut flour and see if it works as a sort
of pumpkin pie blondie bar.
I used
coconut sugar, added 1/2 a teaspoon
of vanilla and a bit
of cinnamon, and
subbed half
of the
coconut oil
out for almond butter... they were delicious!
If you don't want to use
coconut milk, you can certainly
sub almond milk or your dairy - free milk
of choice (check
out the note at the end
of the recipe).

subbed the flax seeds for the same amount
of ground chia seeds with about a cup
of water and i also used
coconut oil instead
of butter and they turned
out perfectly!
Sometimes taking
out some
of the water or milk and
subbing for sour cream, butter, or
coconut oil is all you need.
