Early intervention and treatment is important,
since children with untreated CD are at increased risk of developing a range of
problems during their adult years including
substance use, personality disorders and mental illnesses.
Diets that exclude foods containing
substances which worsen behavioural
problems, such as the Australian - developed FAILSAFE diet, have been
used as treatments for ADHD
since the 1980s.
