Hi Sarah, I prefer using maple
syrup to agave as I find it doesn't spike my blood
sugar so much but in terms of making a difference to the
recipes, using agave would be absolutely fine!
Hi Ella (or anyone that has made these before...) I can't have any
sugar at all, I can just about tolerate the medjool dates but the maple
syrup is definitely a no go... if I leave that out of the brownie
recipe will it be a disaster?!
You can reduce the
syrup by 3 - 4 Tbs and while it doesn't have any
sugar, cacao does have a lot of calories and honestly you don't need what this
recipe calls for so just reduce that as well.
I have done a similar Delia
recipe for years, but I love the idea of replacing the refined
sugar with date
syrup, and adding in the cranberries, so I'll try that this year!!

Not that it matters if everyone's macarons turn out fine, but I use Pierre Herme's
recipe for mine and the only major difference I see between his and your's is that he uses the same amount of
sugar for the
sugar syrup as his «tant pour tant» ratio for almond flour and icing
sugar.

recipes i make are never banana - y enough, i doubled the bananas, used greek yogurt insteaf of oil, used all brown
sugar to sweeten (figured all that banana moisture did nt need
syrup moisture) and instead of millet added 2 handfuls of coconut, 1 handful of oats, and a handful of sesame seeds — still not quite maui, but best ive ever made!
Among things I change on occasion are: — Olive oil instead of coconut oil — Honey instead of maple
syrup — Replacing some of the flour with chickpea flour — I never tried the millet actually but have instead always added pumpkin seeds which complement the babana marvelously — I always cut down on the
sugar in half (I generally do so in
recipes) and I dislike cloves so no.
Baked this
recipe this morning using spelt for the flour, omitted the brown
sugar and used the full amount of maple
syrup.
My
recipe is further jacked up by subbing maple
syrup for brown
sugar and plopping the batter into a muffin pan.

recipes call for glucose
syrup in things like sorbet and icing.
They're made with whole wheat flour (I used white whole wheat), pure maple
syrup instead of
sugar, applesauce and zucchini to replace most of the fat in the
recipe, cinnamon and a mix of both vanilla and almond extracts for a seriously addicting and healthy muffin.
My only gripe with this
recipe is the amount of «
sugar syrup» which I personally would replace with about half the amount of agave
syrup, with a bit of extra Stevia sprinkled in if you like them sweet.
The best part of this
