Combining a documentary on the flooding of the Mekong Delta with a subtly
suggested vampire story, the film fits into Weerasethakul's preoccupation with mysticism, folk - legends and reincarnation, but it is (self - consciously) merely a sketch outline of a more ambitious work, and the screening was marred by the omnipresence of an irritating guitar refrain provided by a friend of the filmmaker (although apparently problems with the sound mix were at least partly to blame for this).
