fuels down (21), resulting in declining atmospheric SO2 concentration and particulate sulfate concentrations.
Changes to marine
fuel regulations are coming on Jan. 1, 2015, when

fuels used within 200 miles of the US and Northwestern European coasts.
The Euro 3 and Euro 4 standards were preceded by the introduction of more stringent

sulfur content of 350 ppm in 2000 and 50 ppm in 2005, and maximum petrol (gasoline)
sulfur content of 150 ppm in 2000 and 50 ppm in 2005.
Last month EPA implemented new gasoline
regulations requiring the last microscopic bits of
sulfur to be removed from
fuel.
There are also some tough new diesel emissions standards about to go into effect, and even with the new low -
sulfur fuel, carmakers admit it will take them another year or so to comfortably meet the stricter
regulations.
