Kennewick School District will provide free breakfast and lunch to children 18 years of age and younger through the
USDA Summer Food Program for Children during June, July and August.
And the Food Research and Action Center released data Tuesday showing that 4.5 percent fewer kids participated
in summer food programs in 2000 than in 1999.
Each summer, future kindergarten students are encouraged to attend a
promotional Summer Food program with their parents or guardians, helping to familiarize themselves with school lunch and navigating the cafeteria.
