The inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial, billed as the «largest international
survey of contemporary architecture in North America,» has announced its chosen participants.

«Camil has been creating an impressive body
of work for many years now that is rooted in an interest in
architecture, economy, and performance,» says curator Justine Ludwig, who unveiled Camil's first institutional
survey in the U.S. at the
Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati in early November.
In 2015 Katseff was also included in a major
survey exhibition
of photography,
architecture and
contemporary art dedicated to the Sierra Nevada region, mounted by the Nevada Museum
of Art.
Offering a fresh reappraisal
of modernist
architecture, the
survey can alternatively be seen in both the iconic structures
of the modernist canon and in the portfolios
of some
of the best
contemporary architects
of this century, including Arne Jacobsen, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright, Marcel Breuer, and Walter Gropius, and
contemporary architects such as Snøhetta, David Adjaye, Sou Fujimoto, Tadao Ando, and John Pawson.
In June, the Guggenheim Museum debuts «Under the Same Sun,» a
survey of more than three dozen Latin American
contemporary artists from 16 different countries; and next spring MoMA will unveil a major show devoted to the development
of architecture in Latin America from 1955 to 1980.
These exhibitions encompass historical
surveys, retrospectives
of significant modern and
contemporary American artists, and group shows
of unknown or emerging artists, exhibitions
of architecture, film and video art, multi-media installation and fine art photography, and other new media.
Recent grants have included support for the conservation treatment
of minimalist paintings at the Guggenheim; a roundtable addressing video art preservation issues; a conservation
survey of Judy Chicago's Dinner Party; publications on the art
of Robert Motherwell and Jasper Johns, as well as on
contemporary Chicano art, art theory, cinema, and photography; research fellowships focused on contemporary Latino art in the United States, popular Islamic art in urban Senegal, and modern Japanese architecture; and multicultural internship grants to support student interns at the Museum of Contemporary Art, LACE, and a number of other local museums, alternative spaces, and community galleries that showcase contempor
