Pet Business recently conducted a
survey of
pet store owners and operators to see just how pervasive the the natural movement has become, as well as to reveal some of the challenges and opportunities facing
pet stores in this area.
· 76 % of
surveyed pet owners reported they learned about
pet nutrition from their veterinarian, 71.5 % from the internet, 22 % from a
pet store, 5.5 % from a breeder, and 2.0 % from a groomer.

Pet Products Association's 2013 - 2014 National
Pet Owners Survey, 59 percent of respondents who have bought
pet ID tags in the past 12 months did so at a
pet chain / super
store, compared to 10 percent that bought IDs at an independent
pet store.
More than 70 percent of
pet store owners and operators who participated in the
survey said that they stock holiday - themed merchandise, with toys and treats at the top of most retailers» list.
