Relay was founded
by representatives of three
charter school chains, Achievement First, KIPP and Uncommon
Schools — chains with a troubling record of
suspensions, harsh discipline and attrition.

charter school management company that was co-founded

charter schools in Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island utilizes the draconian techniques of excessive
school suspensions and a «re-orientation» room.

by authorizers at the event showed lower percentages of students with disabilities, and slightly higher rates of
suspension and expulsion than the Detroit Public
schools.
A review of discipline policies in surrounding
school districts shows that the broad strokes of current DCPS policies (public
charter school policies differ
