Cuomo has over the years pushed Congress repeatedly to take up
gun control legislation after
New York approved a
sweeping package of measures in 2013 known as the SAFE Act, which remains controversial with
gun owners, especially in upstate
New York.
Collins last year introduced
legislation that would nullify much of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's NY SAFE Act, a
sweeping set of
gun control measures including a ban on sales of assault weapons in
New York stores, Kowalczyk said.
