It's not pumpkin pie, but if you scoop out a
baked sweet potato and then mix it with some pumpkin pie spices and a teaspoon or two of
brown sugar, you get many of the same flavor notes as pumpkin pie without the huge fat and
sugar load of a pumpkin pie.
I like to substitute coconut
sugar in my
baking, replacing
brown sugar and white, but find I am doing less
baking overall, and not craving
sweets as much as I did, since I am staying away from chocolate and
sweets in general and eating whole dates and raisins in moderation instead.
