If you've never had
sweet chili sauce before, it's usually
not very spicy (at least none of the brands I've eaten have ever been).
A little
sweet from the 1/4 cup + 2 Tablespoons fig jam, warming from 1 Tablespoon
chili garlic
sauce, tangy from 3-1/2 Tablespoons rice vinegar, and rounded out by 1 cup chicken broth and 1 Tablespoon gluten - free Tamari or soy
sauce (dish will
not be GF if using soy
sauce.)

Perhaps they are better than chain restaurant enchiladas but
not an authentic Mexican restaurant because enchilada
sauce is
chili based
not tomato based - perhaps that is why some find the
sauce sweet because authentic Mexican cooking will use Mexican chocolate which isn't that
sweet not sugar - tomatoes with natural sugar and additional sugar will make the dish
sweet for those with sophisticated traditional Mexican palates.
They were bland, and I followed the directions exactly, except that I'm
not certain my sesame oil was «toasted», AND I used

If you don't add this, add a
chili pepper
sauce, siracha, or

sauce.
