Nectar is a primary food source for many animals but a few, including hummingbirds, honey eaters and sun birds and bats, possess mouthparts specifically designed to slurp up
the sweet liquid found in flowers.
And it's a natural thirst quencher: Coconut water (not to be confused with coconut milk) is the slightly
sweet liquid found in the center of a young, green coconut.
Not exact matches
It's very
sweet and delicious but a little pricey and hard to
find, so you can swap in any
liquid sweetener.
I too, have a severe soy allergy, but I have
found coconut
liquid amino, which you can use instead, or you can use vegan Worcestershire sauce mixed with some coconut oil, I also add a half of cup of brown rice flour and a can of pickled beets mashed in for «corned beef», and BBQ ribz and a can of
sweet potato for» smoked turkey» and both with some tomato paste for hot linkz.
2) For a lightly
sweet finish without adding sugar, I
find about 5 - 10 drops of
liquid stevia is just about right for a quart of almond milk, along with a half teaspoon of homemade vanilla extract, and a small pinch of salt.
I actually
find it to be a tad on the
sweet side, especially with the coconut glaze, which has a tiny bit of sugar added in the form of
liquid honey.
Some people use
liquid Splenda drops (EZ -
sweets)
found on Amazon or Netrition.
I really like rice malt syrup in this recipe because of its more mild sweetness (and I prefer my muesli not to be too
sweet - tasting); keep in mind that if you use a different product it will affect the flavour as I
find the other
liquid sweeteners to impart more sweetness than rice malt.
A 1 - to - 1 ratio of sweetener to
liquid is supposed to preserve it longer but I
find it way too
sweet (and so does Rosemary Gladstar).
A note about cook time: I've
found that 12 hours is the
sweet spot for my slow - cooker — any longer, and it actually overcooks and the gelatin is broken down into amino acids (you will know when this happens because the broth is
liquid when cold rather than gelatinous).
Lactulose is an especially thick and overly
sweet liquid and many animals
find its taste objectionable.
