It's not hard — just a little cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon in the center, and a

While traditional sushi rice gets seasoned with quite a bit of sugar, I went easy
on sugar here as
sweet potatoes are sufficiently
sweet themselves and it is this natural sweetness that provides such a delectable contrast with salty soy
sauce, spicy wasabi and ginger.
Whiskey lovers can start their day with Kentucky Bourbon Pancakes (which, when combined with Blueberry Kentucky Bourbon Syrup, call for a formidable 2 cups of bourbon); lunch
on a Wilted Spinach Salad with a
sweet and sour orange dressing (generously spiked with a half cup of bourbon); tuck into Chicken with Mustard Honey Kentucky Bourbon
Sauce and Kentucky Bourbon Acorn Squash for dinner; and end the day with a slice of fruitcake - like Kentucky Bourbon Cake.
I just loved that it is a savory
sweet potato dish, and there is a delicious fresh
sauce that goes
on top and adds a burst of flavor and color.
1 ball pizza dough (homemade or we recommend Publix or Trader Joe's) 1/4 cup bbq
sauce (we recommend a mix of a
sweet BBQ
sauce and this hot BBQ
sauce) 1/2 cup cooked chicken, shredded 1/4 cup caramelized onions 1 - 2 cups shredded cheese (depending
on how cheesy you like it, we recommend a mix of Mozzarella and cheddar)
There are so many levels of flavor going
on inside each little enchilada: creamy chili - spiced
sweet potato and pinto bean spread, garlicky black beans with red bell peppers and jalapeños, and a rich white cheddar
sauce.

Several months
on and it is now one of my favourite pasta
sauces and what's more I am now amassing a growing number of converts to the pleasures of the
sweet / savoury combination.
While cubed
sweet potatoes get busy roasting with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, you get busy working
on the
sauce.
Sometimes I get crazy with my avocado toast if I've done some meal prep for the week and actually have
sauces and other stuff
on hand (pesto, roasted chickpeas and
sweet potato hummus are my fave toppings).
I've never made edamame dip before but love the Asian spin
on this one with the mix of edamame and tahini, and then throw in some rice vinegar,
sweet soy
sauce and sesame oil.
A beautiful object to be dipped
on a tangy, salty, spicy,
sweet sauce.
Oh, and I'm still feasting
on leftover turkey, stuffing, cranberry
sauce, and
sweet potato casserole.
If fresh ginger - laced
sweet - and - sour
sauce sounds seducing, here is a variation worth snacking
on.
You can use this
sauce on grilled chicken, pork, ribs, salmon or anything you can think of that would benefit from the
sweet, sour and spicy flavors that come from an island - style baste.
Now, with this simple
sauce clone, you can recreate the slightly
sweet, mildly sour, and a little bit smoky
sauce at home to take any of your home sandwich creations
on a trip to the spicy Southwest.
I am making this right now, Sep 3 evening, as autumn creeps in — LOVE the idea of the mild flavorful chile heat combined with a «raisiny»
sweet depth and cider vinegar tang — a bit like tamarind
sauce which I've been using
on everything.
Directions: Using a mortar and pestle, or a small grinder, mix garlic, ginger and half of the peanut oil to form a thick paste / Add other spices, half of the water (1/2 C) to this mix, stir together and set aside / In a
sauce pan, heat the other tablespoon of oil to medium hot, add cumin and mustard seeds and allow them to sizzle momentarily / Add spice paste, turn heat to medium low, and while stirring, allow to cook for 1 to 2 minutes / Add cauliflower and potatoes,
sweet or hot pepper if using / Stir together so that vegetables are coated with the spices / Add the other 1/2 C water, place a lid
on, and simmer for 10 — 15 minutes, until vegetables are tender / Remove lid and simmer for another 5 minutes / If vegetables are done, remove them from the pan and continue to simmer the
sauce until it reduces and thickens slightly — just a minute or two / Add roasted asparagus to the bowl / Spoon
sauce over winter and spring veggies, sprinkle with chives.
This versatile
sweet - and - slightly - spicy
sauce can be ordered
on salmon (pictured here), baby back ribs, steak, chicken, pork chops — even
on chicken wings.
The sticky -
sweet sauce is 4 - ingredient - simple and simmers away
on the stove as the chicken bakes with rice wine vinegar, sugar, soy
sauce and red pepper flakes.
The teriyaki
sauce is one that I've used for years and I've gradually cut back
on the brown sugar to take away that cloyingly
sweet taste that many teriyaki
sauces have and to «up» the health factor.

This

on chicken or ribs.
i had the bulk of it prepped early in the afternoon (rice,
sweet potato and dressing, chickpeas in
sauce in a bowl ready to cook) and when the hubs came home i fired up the grill, grabbed my cast iron skillet and cooked the last minute fresh stuff right
on the coals and threw it all together right there!!
I'm used to pacing in front of my oven for 30 - 40 painful minutes waiting
on sweet potato fries and in the space of time it would take me to make the dipping
sauce and «taste test» it about a billion times these babies were done.

sauce is a Caribbean style

I didn't need to add any, but I could see how some people would like their cranberry

I skipped the red pepper because I didn't have it
on hand and I think I will skip it when I make it again (even though I know it's a traditional part of the dish) because I think it may add too much sweetness to the already
sweet tomato
sauce on the bottom.
