Nintendo could have had this beautiful motion controlled game and then included an option for traditional controls as an «easy
mode» where the
sword automatically
swings the right way, for people who absolutely do not enjoy motion controls.
You can choose to do so either with the game's clunky gun combat — aiming barely functions at all unless you go into the more precise aiming
mode, which also happens to slow you down immensely — or use Bryce's comically oversized
sword, which you can't
swing unless you press the lock - on button, and then use the right analog stick to
swing with.
