Juvenile
Pubic Symphysiodesis surgery is performed on dog's younger than six months and involves fusing part of the pelvis together.
Our surgeons utilize the latest techniques including stem cell therapy, Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO), Trochleoplasty for luxating patellas, PennHIPevaluations, pubic
symphysiodesis in puppies, Triple Pelvic Osteotomy (TPO), total hip replacement, Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO), arthroscopy, reconstructive surgery, and limb salvage operations.
Your friend's puppy did have loose ligaments and her puppy is now scheduled to have a procedure called a juvenile
pubic symphysiodesis (JPS) surgery.
Juvenile Pubic
Symphysiodesis is a less invasive surgery that surgeons perform on dogs younger than five months old.
In younger dogs with hip dysplasia, other surgical options include Triple Pelvic Osteotomy or Juvenile Pubic
Symphysiodesis (JPS).
Another kind of preventive surgery, although still being studied if it is effective or not, is pubic
symphysiodesis.
Other less common surgical procedures used to treat hip dysplasia include triple pelvic osteotomy (TPO), juvenile pubic
symphysiodesis, and DARthroplasty.
Juvenile Pubic
Symphysiodesis: A new, less invasive surgery for treating hip dysplasia, called Juvenile Pubic Symphysiodesis, is currently being evaluated.
Hip Dysplasia including cemented and cement-less total hip replacements, Juvenile Pubic
Symphysiodesis (JPS) and PennHIP for early diagnosis of hip dysplasia
Juvenile Pubic (Pelvic)
Symphysiodesis (JPS) is a relatively new minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of hip dysplasia.
THR = Total Hip Replacement; FHO = Femoral Head Ostectomy; JPS = Juvenile; Pubic
Symphysiodesis; TPO (DPO) = Triple (Double) Pelvic Osteotomy

Juvenile pubic
symphysiodesis, or JPS, a procedure for younger dogs that manipulates the way the pelvis grows to create a tighter hip.
Hip Laxity, Coxofemoral Laxity, Subluxating Hips, Femoral Head and Neck Excision, Triple Pelvic Osteotomy, Juvenile Pubic
Symphysiodesis, Total Hip Replacement, Hip Arthritis
Puppies as early as 10 weeks old can be diagnosed with abnormal joint laxity accurately (see Diagnostics) and treated surgically by the procedure, Juvenile Pubic
Symphysiodesis (JPS).
In addition to total hip replacement, other surgical options include triple pelvic osteotomy, juvenile pubic
symphysiodesis, and excision arthroplasty with consideration given to the age of the animal and the degree of joint degeneration.
The other surgery is an experimental procedure called a juvenile pubic
symphysiodesis (JPS).
