That's why vegetable
oil companies take no care whatsoever with their product, blasting their sunflower
oil with hexane and deodorisers, but do add some
synthetic vitamin E at the
last minute: they don't wish to sell a rancid product.

Fully
synthetic oil will
last longer than dino (refined)
oil, but it will suffer defeat sooner or later as well.
The
synthetic oil should
last longer without degrading, so if you are doing less miles this should safely extend the
oil change period.
BMW uses Castrol 5W - 30 that's a
synthetic oil and is intended to
last quite a long time.

synthetic and said I'd be good for a year.
It now has 42,000 miles (about 18,000 miles since then) and had used Motul 5w40 full
synthetic for the
last 3 (at most 3.5) years because that was the closest grade available at the first
oil change.
