I think this is an attribute of the QNX platform (it keeps things secure so no single
app can affect another
app or
crash the
system), but someway somehow RIM is going to have to get
apps talking to each other if they want to deliver a compelling user experience.
A nice part of QNX is that if there's a
crash with one
app, it won't bring the whole
system down, most of the time — that means you won't have to restart your PlayBook device frequently, if ever, which is a good thing since the power button is useless.

Sure, I would go through long stretches without any issues, but lag, touch latency, and occasional
crashes still occurred across all
apps and
system functions, even after numerous restarts and a factory restore.
I only experienced a few rare instances of

system slow - downs in the several weeks I spent with the device, and overheating never became an issue even after prolonged use of video calling or games.
