My son's doctor floated out the idea that his sleep issues weren't actually caused by his medication (although it can definitely be a side effect), but by the fact that it's completely out of
his system by bedtime.

by sleeping in or doing quiet time / naps on weekends, and those tokens can be redeemed for pushing
bedtime back 20 - 30 minutes on non-school nights.
