He has bags of talent and is one of the few wing players besides Bellerin who is willing and able to
take on defenders in the attack.
When he knows that some one is there behind him to cover him, he can
really take on defenders, he also has shown he can score goals even with his left foot.
Moreover his turn of pace, fearlessness in
taking on defenders with his trickery and low centre of gravity, made him difficult to defend against.
me to say wolcott is playing light out he will have to
take on defender on the outside on make pin point crosses inside the box picking out runners.
I am not a ozil fan and i have also said he was not needed when he was bought, i will admit he has improved in his defensive work, however Ozil occupies the number 10 position in the arsenal team, some would say its the Fabregas position, but i would beg to differ its the Bergkamp position and if you are in this position you not only create goals, but score a a few and also
take on defenders which create space for other players.
Arsneal need a striker with good intricate skills who could play good close contact football, withstand defenders weight leaning onto him and still maintain good control of the ball and manage to make passes from that position, scoring indivitual goals
by taking on defenders.
If Theo can mirraculously bulk up and
start taking on defenders instead of running away from them then im sold «he can play striker» but till that day we need another accompliahed striker.
Perhaps some clear positives from the game was the form of Alexis with his two goals, Ozil assisting yet again and even Joel
Campbell taking on defenders and providing a killer pass to set up Alexis for his second for the night.
@arsenalkid1970 I think a striker around 27/28 has grown enough confidence in his game where he doesn't
fear taking on defenders 1 on 1.
200 million to revamp arsenal squad so we can compete with Bayern Munich Chelsea and Real Madrid and Barcelona ozil 40 Campbell 10 Ramsey 30 Wolcott 30 bellerin 50 Jack 30 coquelin 10 debuchy 5 m jenkinson 5m akpon 5m szcesny10 m new replacement William cavalho Alexandre lacazette are lukaku ricardo Rodriguez ousmane dembele and a right winger who can
take on defender make crosses inside the box on can shoot.
His game is too one - sided (too slow, can not
take on defenders others than in the air, needs too much time to shoot, slows our game down) and he misses too many chances in big moment.
Is he needed, looking at the arsenal squad only sanchez, ox and sometimes Iwobi
actually takes on the defenders, whether with a burst of pace or trickery, he has both qualities, which is an asset in crowded defenses.
Because as much as people would proclaim how good he is at holdup play, sometimes his lack of mobility upfront leaves him isolated in games where he faces the good defenders, The John Terry's and The Kompany's its obcious Giroud's not stronger than them, and the fact he is not the most skillful or
fastest taking on defenders means more than often in those games having him on in a lost cause.
Lastly, maybe it's worth trying Chamberlain as a CF, his shooting is more clinical than Walcott's and he has more strength and can
take on defenders without running into them and falling over...
theo walcott will never be a great striker, cos all he can do is run fast, he has no ball skills or good ball controll and he
cant take on defenders one on one.
But to see
Pjaca taking on defenders, combining with Higuain and the likes, even showing off a shot from outside the box that went zooming just past the upper - right corner of the West Ham goal.
Forgetting momentarily that is Theo Walcott, Walcott controls the ball well and
takes on the defender for pace, before turning back and hitting an utterly useless, pathetic left footed cross into the box to no - one.
Sanchez the striker who can
take on defenders with his driving skills and can feed off loose balls from Giroud.
Lost balls, especially the mid was poor out of all the players and Wenger should know Özil will never dribble past a defender and
take on a defender in BPL like he did for Madrid in la liga.
We suffer from lack of width when players always want to come inside to play shot balls — it's nice to offer the width as well with someone who can
take on a defender.
on inquiry or offer he doesn't score a lot of gold he doesn't
take on the Defender and create chances so he only performing games in gameswhere the opponent give us space and a lot of room we will never win the title with him why are Liverpool doing better than us even when we have Sanchez and ozil
-- Mkhitaryan: Showed great skills and willingness to
take on the defenders, but not enough to help Arsenal tonight.
We need a wide player who can
take on defenders, and a CDM (Elneny is a joke)
He could excel with hold up play due to his height and strength, but he also possesses the speed and trickery to
take on defenders.
Rather than
take on a defender or dribble into position to open up passing lanes, he basically stops after receiving the ball and looks for the fastest / easiest way to get rid of the ball to someone else.
He doesn't have the speed or the instinct to
take on defenders in an effort to get to the by - line and as a result, he always looks to cut back to the middle slowing play down.
I asked the question a few months back about why did we pay 42 mil for a guy who can only pass, yet was afraid to
take on defenders.
