I wish I would've
taken a photo of the kitchen because it is the smallest, most efficient kitchen I've seen.
When Style Me Pretty asked to feature our house they also requested
we take photos of our kitchen.
I didn't
take photos of the kitchen when the top cabinets were installed, too but trust me that it felt dark, small and dated.

Basically, that's the whole purpose
of Tuesday's «A Tasty Recipe» feature: we select a Tasty
Kitchen recipe that's not our own, prepare it,
take photos of the process, and share our thoughts about the dish at the end.
It's been a year
of cold meals due to
taking photos for too long; A year
of cooking up a storm in our little
kitchen; A year
of fails, triumphs, late nights and early mornings; A year
of batter splattered clothes and flour in my hair; And most importantly, a year
of doing something that I love and look forward to every day.
It
takes way longer than snapping a bunch
of photos and the
kitchen gets about ten times as trashed.
Nava spent much
of 2010 writing the over 200 recipes in her book, pausing when she created a particularly photogenic one to send me the recipe so that I could cook it in my
kitchen and
take its
photo on my dining room table.
People are starting to arrive and I've probably set the table by now, my man has
taken care
of my appetizers and starts prepping the main course, and as the doorbell rings I'm probably standing at our
kitchen window still
taking photos of the dessert.
I adore Anya's creativeness in the
kitchen: she is not only an incredibly talented cook, she also knows the art
of styling and
taking beautiful
photos.

Ive noticed in many
of these
kitchen photos, they people
take the stove and the fridge.
The living room is at the back
of the house, and connects to the entryway (where that pink tile is peeking out on the far left
of the
photo above), the
kitchen (at the back
of the
photo, with the wallpaper and wainscoting), the backyard (through the windows... obviously), and the master suite and an additional guest suite (through a little vestibule where this
photo was
taken).
It
took some convincing, but my husband liked the inspiration
photos I found online
of beautiful
kitchens with shiplap.
Fun fact it's actually snowing in March as I
take these
photos of our spring copper
kitchen here in Michigan...

When we painted the
kitchen and family room a few weeks ago I
took the slipcovered wingback chairs that were in this room (you can see
photos of this room with those chairs here) I decided to try switching the sets
of chairs because I really liked how the slipcovered ones looked against the new darker gray mantel in the family room.
