I've made this multiple times, but care must be
taken to
slice the
potatoes thinner for smaller chicken legs to avoid drying out chicken before
potatoes are tender.
Take some flavorful smoked sausage, a bunch of
potatoes, a generous helping of thinly
sliced onions and cook them all down till the
potatoes are on the verge of crumbling and the onions practically disappear.
You
take slabs of
sliced potatoes, boil them in vinegar, then grill them to a crisp.
Ingredients: About a lb, give or
take, of salmon or any other fish you might have, in chunks, skin removed (clams are an obvious choice too) / 3 cups chicken broth / 2
slices bacon, chopped / 1 onion, diced / 2 T flour / 1 bay leaf / 2 sprigs fresh thyme leaves, chopped / 2 large
potatoes, peeled and chopped / 2 cups milk / 1 cup half & half / 2 T sherry vinegar / Dash of Worcestershire sauce (optional) / Salt & pepper to taste.
So here's my tip: if you're using a toaster,
slice the sweet
potato as thin as possible, because thick pieces will
take forever to cook (like, pushing the lever down 4 - 6 times).
Since a burger, even a veggie burger, isn't a burger without fries and onion rings, our Thanksgiving «fries»
took the shape of oven - roasted sweet
potato wedges and our «rings,» tempura battered and fried acorn squash
slices.
Now
take the
slices of
potato and onion in another bowl and season them with salt and pepper and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and fresh thyme.
I find it fascinating that you can
take something as simple as a
potato and dependent upon whether it has been boiled, roasted, deep fried, baked in cheese,
sliced, cooked whole, crumbled, burnt, sprinkled in mint, or doused in yogurt — it will open your eyes to learning about another culture and their adoption of traditions throughout their own history.
I «ve even
taken buttered bread and add
slices of American cheese, then mashed
potatoes, the the chicken and noodles..
Now thinly
slice the sweet
potatoes — you can also do slightly larger chunks — it simply
takes a little more time to cook.
I used my food processor to
slice the
potatoes 4 mm thick (I was afraid that thinner would result in
potatoes that fell apart), and it will
take at least 75 minutes to cook, maybe 85.

I
take 1 chicken thigh (or breast) and a small sweet
potato that I've peeled and

slice the veg and pear and whip up the tangy ponzu sauce, which I would happily pour on any protein or veg.
Take a (froz) package of mixed (cubed) veggies, throw them into the foodprocessor, add another one or two
potatoes,
sliced, some olive oil and grind away until you have a smooth / chunky mass.
When peeling and cutting the
potatoes, cut into smaller 1/2 ″
slices, that way they won't
take as long to cook all the way through.
I
took heed of the comments about undercooked
potatoes and par - boiled mine for 5 minutes first, then
sliced quite thinly but they still
took about 30 minutes to fry until tender as it is almost impossible to make sure each piece gets enough time on the base of the pan.
