Taking Kratos from Greek to Norse mythology, making him a father, and focusing on narrative as well as completely revamping combat has made God of War a welcome refresh for the franchise.

God of War is a soft reboot of the series,
taking Kratos from the world of Greek mythology — which he subsequently killed all of the deities within — and planting him years later as an older and wiser warrior in the world of the Norse.
After
taking Kratos out for a spin in his latest assault on the gods of Greek mythology, it's safe to say the natural order will not be disrupted.
It may feel like you should be using the Axe, since axes are generally held to be more deadly than fists, but in truth, you can mess stuff up without ever
taking Kratos's axe off his shoulder.

it took Kratos leaving Greece to experience his first truly epic odyssey.

God of War III hasn't been given a release date yet, but

What we have here is much more in line with the older games that set

takes off where God of War left off and tells the tale of
Kratos» ascension to power as the God of War.

Combat-wise,
Kratos is still feisty and deadly when provoked, though using his Leviathan Axe can
take some time to get used to.
I spent most of the game wearing Tyr's armour, stopping to

Kratos» arrived on the precipice of a cliff or a new exciting area, places I refuse to spoil.
Instead of calling it God of War 4, they just named it God of War, since it

With the decent amount of combos to use, the game manages to still retain its stylish combos, especially the

Kratos when the enemy gets stunned.
These same weapons that
Kratos and Atreus use to
take down their enemies, they're using to navigate the world, complete puzzles, and reap rewards.
It's clear that Zeus and the other gods of Olympus are the primary targets of
Kratos, who will
take a bloody journey from the depths of Hades to the heights of Mt. Olympus before all is said and done.
From the moment I
took control of him, I noticed that
Kratos felt much more powerful and grounded than in previous games.
Apologies to
Kratos, Link, Dante, and plenty of other action heroes with quality games, but Prince of Persia
takes the proverbial cake.
As
Kratos enters a different chapter of his tormented life, can he develop into a more rounded figure and possibly even

We wanted to pay proper homage to
Kratos, so the approach we
took was to have his playstyle reflect some of the most iconic weapons in God of War, such as the Blades of Chaos and Apollo's Bow.
Fat Princess will be

Kratos later this year.
